Hyphen brings its rotating stick puzzles to Android and iOS
Hyphen is a precision puzzle game from UK studio FarSpace Studios. You guide a stick that never stops spinning through narrow neon mazes, and the only rule is not to touch anything. Walls, moving obstacles, enemies and traps stand between you and the exit, and one bump sends you back to the start.
The game first came out on PC in 2015. The mobile version, rebuilt in MonoGame, launched on October 28. It has 36 campaign levels, two unlockable minigames, analogue touch controls with controller support, and an 11 track soundtrack. It can also load community levels that PC players make with the editor and share through Steam Workshop.
On Google Play it is a paid download at $4.39 in the US, while the App Store lists it at $3.99. The store description says it has no adverts, subscriptions or microtransactions, and the App Store page says the developer collects no data. None of the sources say whether it runs without a connection. The campaign may well work offline, but community levels are downloaded, so we are treating offline play as not confirmed.
The developer describes it as tense and at times infuriating, so it suits players who enjoy retrying a tricky section until it clicks. It is a short session game you can pick up for a few minutes. If you want something relaxing, this is probably not the one.
