Ant arena game: the six arenas of Ant Zigzag and how to win each

JoyBit Team ·

If you searched for an ant arena game, you probably want ants fighting in a ring, not a colony to manage. When we searched "ant arena" on the Google Play website on October 24, 2026, the top results in the US store were Ant Wars: Treasure Hunt, Ant Legion: For The Swarm and Ant Fight: Conquer the Tower. None of them has "arena" in its name, so check each listing to see what kind of game it is.

We make Ant Zigzag, a single-player arena game where you steer one ant and win by ramming the others from behind. It's new and wasn't on that first page yet, so if you want to find it on the store, search "Ant Zigzag" by name. This post is the developer's account, not a review: it walks through the six arenas in the game, what each one changes, and how to play it. Every detail below was checked against the game's code on October 24, 2026.

The rule that works in every arena

You play Kim, a green ant who never stops crawling. Touch and drag with one finger to steer. From level 11, tapping a second finger while you steer brakes for half a second.

Kim turns much more sharply than any enemy, so the plan is almost always the same: swing wide, get behind, cut in. What changes from arena to arena is the room you have to do that. The overview of how Ant Zigzag plays covers each enemy type, Brake and Gold Rush in more detail.

The six arenas, land by land

The 50 levels are split across five lands. Each arena is an everyday object seen at ant size, and the second land has two.

Pocket watch (levels 1 to 10, Sand Garden)

A round arena on the face of a pocket watch, and the place to learn the tail hit. Armor starts showing up at level 5 and spider webs at level 6. Any ant inside a web, Kim included, moves at 40% speed, so lure enemies into one and then circle around. Level 4 sets the hour hand spinning: it sweeps the arena and stuns any ant it touches for half a second. On level 8 the whole clock tilts and every ant slides toward the low side, which slowly turns. Our beginner guide goes through these ten levels one by one, with the 3-star time for each.

The Leaf (levels 11 to 16, Leaf Forest)

The only arena that isn't round. The leaf is about as wide as the watch but only three quarters as tall, so there's less room to loop above and below an enemy. Make your wide turns along the long side. This is also where Brake unlocks: when a hunter is right behind you, brake and let it overshoot, and its tail ends up in front of you. On level 14 the leaf tilts harder the longer the round goes, so a quick clear is the easy clear.

Bottle cap ring (levels 17 to 20, Leaf Forest)

A round ring for the Bottle Cap Cup. On level 17 the cap jumps every 6 seconds, throwing and stunning every ant that isn't braking. Brake just before each jump and you stay put while everyone else is knocked about. Level 20 is the final against Mun, a black ant that takes two hits. Like the yellow ants, Mun turns to face you if you line up on it for more than a moment, so come in from the side with short approaches instead of long chases.

Sugar bowl (levels 21 to 30, Sugar Nest)

A china bowl with a pink sugar floor. From level 21, takedowns fill a bar for Gold Rush: 4 seconds where Kim is faster, wins a hit anywhere on an enemy's body and can't be bitten. On level 24 the sugar melts in from the edge for 40 seconds until the bowl is just over half as wide, so there's soon no room to circle: take down what you can early. Level 28 has a spoon stirring through the bowl. It's wider than the watch hand but slower, so you can see it coming. Level 30 is the Pink Queen, who takes three hits and calls two soldiers each time you land one.

Playing level 26 inside a porcelain bowl: Kim the green ant facing a red ant, with takedowns, time and score at the top

Stalactite cave (levels 31 to 40, Dark Cave)

The first arena with obstacles: three or four stone pillars that no ant can walk through, hunters included. Put a pillar between you and an ant chasing your tail, then come around the other side. From here on, up to three enemies can hunt you at once instead of two.

Several cave levels, and some in the Volcano, are dark, so you only see the area around Kim and enemies show as red eyes. The Keen antennae upgrade lets you see 15% further. On level 34 the lights go off for 3 seconds and on for 4, so note where everyone is before it goes dark. On level 38 stalactites fall every 5 seconds where a warning ring appears, and stay as new pillars. An ordinary enemy caught under one is out. If it's Kim, you lose your armor, or the round if you have none. Level 40 is the Shadow Queen, four hits.

Volcano crater (levels 41 to 50, Volcano)

A crater with two or three lava pools. Kim falling into lava counts as a hit: armor takes it for you, otherwise the round is over. Gold Rush lets you cross lava safely. Ordinary enemy ants burn up if they end up in a pool, and ants hunting you cut closer to the pools than wandering ones do, so a chase along the edge of the lava can end with the hunter going in. Bosses don't burn.

From level 41 to 49 Mun fights on your side and hunts on its own; bump into Mun and you're both stunned, so give each other room. On level 44 the pools grow until they're twice their size, and on level 47 the mountain shakes every 5 seconds, which is the worst time to be near the lava. Level 45 is the Fire General (four hits) and level 50 the Fire King (five hits).

Habits that help in every arena

What it doesn't have

Every rival is a bot on your own phone. There are no online matches, no playing with friends, no ads and no in-app purchases. All 50 levels play without an internet connection, and progress is saved on your device. The only online feature is an optional shared leaderboard that you turn on yourself. If you're looking for an arena where you fight real people, this isn't it. Our post on io games that work offline explains what changes when a game like slither.io loses its connection.

How to try it

Ant Zigzag is free on Google Play for Android. You can also play the same game in your browser; open it once while online and it keeps working offline after that. On iPhone, the iPhone guide shows how to add it to your Home Screen.
