Scoops Classic brings NimbleBit's ice cream stacker back

JoyBit Team ·

Scoops Classic is NimbleBit's remake of Scoops, the ice cream stacking game the studio first put out on the iPhone in 2008. Scoops fall from the sky and you move the cone to catch them, either by tilting the phone or dragging with a finger. Matching flavours earns bonus points, rainbow scoops count as any flavour, and the tower climbs past the city and the clouds into space. Vegetables cost you one of your three lives, and stars give them back.

The original was pulled from the App Store after iOS 11 dropped support for older apps, so this is the first way to play it on a current phone. NimbleBit kept the old music, sound effects and look, and every one of the eight themes, from SkyBurger to Hats, is unlocked from the start. Newer touches are the touch controls and a pause that saves an interrupted run.

On Google Play the game costs $4.99 once, with no ads and no in-app purchases. The store page says it plays offline and needs no account, and the developer reports that no data is collected. Scores go on a local top ten table, with twelve awards to earn. Pocket Gamer reported the launch on October 21 for Android and iOS.

It is rated Everyone, so it works for kids and adults alike. It is a good pick for a short break or a flight, especially if you remember the original and want the same simple chase for a higher tower.
